PPL Energy Rebate ProgramAre you confused about the new changes to the PPL Energy Rebate Program? Did you miss out on the last phase only to find out the rules have changed for this phase? You are not alone, as we have fielded many similar questions regarding the eligibility requirements for the E-Power energy rebate program. This article will explain the program and the other steps you can take to save money on energy costs and obtain rebates for investing in new technology.

History of the PPL Energy Rebate Program

In 2008, Pennsylvania passed a law known as Act 129. It requires the state’s electric distribution companies (including PPL) to collect fees from their customers’ bills to fund energy-efficiency incentive programs. Through these incentive programs, businesses not only save money through reduced energy costs, but also receive rebates for upgrading to energy-efficient appliances and equipment.

PPL Electric Utilities’ E-Power Energy Rebate Program was first approved in 2010. The latest phase, Phase III, began on June 1 and will continue through May 31, 2021 or until funds out. Be sure to apply soon, as funds have run out for each of the previous two phases.

Is the PPL Energy Rebate Program Worth the Effort?

To put it simply—yes! Since the inception of the E-Power Energy Rebate Program six years ago, our clients have saved over $6 million from energy reductions and over 62 million kilowatt-hours while obtaining $2.1 million in rebates and incentives to help pay for their upgrades. Our clients are currently saving $1.8 million and 18 million kilowatt-hours every year.

Not only will you save money for your business, but you will also have a positive impact on the environment! Our clients have reduced their carbon footprint by a combined 16 million pounds of CO² greenhouse gas emissions each year. That’s a total of 55 million pounds of CO² greenhouse gases that have not been introduced into the atmosphere since the program began.

How Can the E-Power Program Help My Business?

Any non-residential building that receives its electricity through PPL Electric will benefit from the E-Power program. Commercial and multifamily businesses, industrial and manufacturing facilities, government and education buildings, and agricultural centers qualify for the business rebate program.

The program has covered different equipment and technology for each phase. Many types of equipment and retrogrades qualify, including lighting and lighting controls, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) units and systems, refrigeration, motors, motor controls, and industry-specific energy savings system. If you believe that your equipment could be more energy efficient and plan to invest in new equipment, the E-Power program can help you get a rebate to recover some of your investment in addition to the energy cost you will save every year and the improved performance you will experience with new technology.

There are many upgrades and retrofit opportunities to save energy in your business. Our ski resort clients  learned that even their snowmaking guns could save energy and reserve rebates. One wholesale florist earned rebates for changing the irrigation pumping system from a two-step to an on-demand pumping system. Ambipar Response EMS has helped many clients take an energy saving idea and turn it into a project with significant rebates.

If you have a project in mind, contact Ambipar Response EMS and we can help you determine if you will qualify for a rebate. If appropriate, we can also help to develop that project from an idea to an energy saving part of your business.

If your business can afford to save—and earn—some money, the PPL Energy Rebate Program provides you with the perfect opportunity to do just that. As the newest phase of the program just rolled out at the beginning of June, it is important to reserve your rebate opportunities before funds run out just as they did in Phase I and Phase II of the program.
